What is an Integrative Pharmacist?
An Integrative Pharmacist, or trained natural medicine Pharmacist, is a healthcare professional who understands and recommends both conventional and evidence-based practitioner-only vitamins, supplements and medicines.
The reason for this holistic approach is to better treat the patient as a “whole”.
What health conditions do Integrative Pharmacists address?
Our Integrative Pharmacists are trained to support customers with the following health concerns:
Customers who find their health concerns are not being resolved by traditional prescription medication, may find it helpful to add other types of “tools” to their healthcare and wellness toolkit.
This is where science-based vitamins and supplements can come in.
What can I expect at my Integrative Pharmacy consultation?
Location and duration
During your in-pharmacy consultation, your Integrative Pharmacist will speak with you in a one-on-one setting.
As they must first learn all about you, your health background and other areas, your first consultation will be approximately 60 minutes, with follow up consultations of around 30 minutes.
Identification of symptoms
To identify treatment that is right for you, your Integrative Pharmacist will ask you to complete a questionnaire, going into detail about your experiences and symptoms related to stress, mood and fatigue, pain, digestive and immune health, skin health and women's health if applicable.
Prescriptions
Following this, they will prescribe practitioner-only vitamins, supplements and/or therapies suited to your situation, to help alleviate the symptoms you described.
These therapies may also aid in the prevention of greater impacts caused by your health concern from evolving or reappearing.
Balanced options
Far from a one-solution fits all, your trained natural medicine Pharmacist may recommend practitioner-only vitamins and supplements or pharmaceuticals, if these are deemed necessary
Careful consideration of prescriptions
Be assured that prevention is key in this practice, and that pharmaceutical prescriptions are not dispensed without due course.
Allied support
If you need the support of a greater healthcare team, we can refer you to appropriate allied health professionals and work cooperatively with them, to support you.
